Mini Hawaiian Grilled Cheese (Printable)

Sweet Hawaiian rolls with melted cheddar, brushed with butter and baked until golden—perfect for parties or snacks.

# What You'll Need:

→ Breads

01 - 1 package (12-count) Hawaiian sweet rolls

→ Dairy

02 - 8 ounces sliced cheddar cheese
03 - 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

→ Optional Add-ins

04 - 6 slices deli ham or turkey (optional)
05 - 1 tablespoon Dijon or yellow mustard (optional)
06 - 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
07 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

# Directions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Using a serrated bread knife, slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls horizontally to separate into top and bottom halves, keeping the rolls attached.
03 - Arrange the bottom half of the rolls on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Evenly layer sliced cheddar cheese across the surface. If desired, add deli ham or turkey on top of the cheese.
04 - Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese and optional meat.
05 - Mix melted butter with mustard, honey, and garlic powder if desired. Brush this mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls using a pastry brush.
06 - Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops of the rolls are golden brown.
07 - Allow to cool for 2 minutes, then slice into individual mini sandwiches. Serve warm.

# Expert Hints:

01 -
  • These are dangerously easy to whip up, and even easier to devour—perfect for spontaneous cravings you absolutely need to satisfy.
  • The combo of gooey cheese and tender, slightly sweet rolls has converted even my pickiest eaters into fans.
02 -
  • Once, I forgot the parchment, and cleaning baked-on cheese off the pan put a definite damper on the feast—don’t make that mistake.
  • Mixing mustard into the butter rather than layering it directly prevents soggy rolls and lets the flavor permeate just right.
03 -
  • If you want extra crisp tops, broil for the last minute but watch closely—they brown fast.
  • A light sprinkle of flaky salt before baking takes things up a notch without any extra work.
